More snow and high winds on the way

FI-stormy-weatherWinter isn’t done with Weston. Heavy, wet snow, high winds and potential coastal flooding is expected start Wednesday through Thursday — with some more snow possible Friday morning.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Weston and the region from 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, through 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, according to the National Weather Service.

Fairfield County could get two to four inches of snow Wednesday night through Thursday morning and an additional one to three inches Thursday night through Friday morning. Along with the snow, high winds are in the forecast: 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Along the coast, gusts could be up to 50 mph Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

A wind advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday.

A mix of rain and snow is expected to start as early as late Wednesday morning before turning into all snow late Wednesday afternoon. “Moderate snow is possible Wednesday night through Thursday morning, with periods of light to moderate snow Thursday afternoon through Friday morning,” according to the weather service.

“Accumulating snow on roadways could lead to difficult traveling conditions Wednesday night through Thursday,” the weather service said Wednesday morning. “The heavy, wet snow, combined with strong winds could lead to downed tree branch and power lines as well.”

There is also a coastal flood advisory in effect from 5 pm. to 8 p.m.  Wednesday. There is a coastal flood watch in effect through Thursday morning.
