The Weston Kiwanis Club announced that this year’s beneficiaries of one of its major fund-raisers — the annual Kiwanis wine tasting event — are the Weston Warm-Up Fund, Weston Social Services, and the Weston Kiwanis Club Foundation.
“Last year about 160 people participated in the Kiwanis Wine Tasting, and we intend this year to increase that to hopefully 200,” said Don Gary, Weston Kiwanis president. The event, Saturday, March 16, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Norfield Church parish hall, “is a fun evening and the beneficiaries are critical to our community,” Mr. Gary said.
“At this community event, you will have the opportunity to enjoy socializing with your neighbors and friends while also supporting some very worthwhile local nonprofits,” he added.
Also part of the wine tasting event will be a silent auction. One of the many items will be opening night tickets to the Westport Playhouse and an invitation to the after party with actors and local celebrities.
The wine tasting is organized by Peter’s Spirit Shop in Weston Center. Peter’s Spirit Shop has also donated a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne, which will be raffled at the event. There will be a broad selection of wines available at the tasting and available for purchase.
There will be a large array of foods to enjoy while tasting wines, catered by Bon Soiree of Weston.
Other highlights of the silent auction include tickets to Jose Feliciano’s 2013 World Tour concert, including backstage passes, JetBlue tickets, and a stay at the Phoenix Hyatt.
Again this year, Fairfield County Bank has agreed to be the lead sponsor for this event, helping Kiwanis to continue its fund-raising efforts for needy organizations.
Tickets are on sale for the annual Weston Kiwanis wine tasting evening for $75 each. For information on how to buy tickets, contact Pam Kersey at [email protected] or 203-454-8809. Attendees may direct the funds for their ticket purchases directly to one of the three beneficiaries.
