Road paving in Weston on tap for this month

Expect traffic to move a little more slowly through Weston over the next few weeks.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) began a resurfacing project on Route 53 and Route 57 in Weston on Monday. The project is scheduled to run through Thursday, July 26, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

The project consists of resurfacing a 4.25-mile segment of Route 53 (Newtown Turnpike) from Valley Forge Road through the overlap of Route 57 (Weston Road), and ending in the vicinity of Norfield Road. A four-mile section of Route 57 (Weston/Georgetown Road) will also be resurfaced between the Westport town line and Trails End Road.

This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2012 vendor-in-place program.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be used to guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
