Weston social services director discusses her mission

Charlene Chiang-Hillman, director of social services for the Town of Weston, spoke to the Woman’s Club of Weston Inc. at its recent February luncheon held at the Red Barn.

Her mission is to promote the physical and mental health and well-being of all in Weston, through programs, information, referrals and advocacy (with no financial aid from the town but depending totally on contributions).

There are over 250 households using the department for assistance, both financial and other needs, with the majority losing their “safety net.”

Many towns are struggling with these same issues in difficult times but Ms. Chiang-Hillman said that Weston is special — they are a community that helps where possible and especially a community that gives back.
