Scores were on the rise for the Weston High gymnastics team when it visited Wilton.
The Trojans posted their highest total to date, with their two gymnasts totaling 57.6 points last Tuesday, Jan. 22. The hosts, the defending Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference champs, remained out of reach with a full team score of 137.85.
Natalie Hassett and Casey Redcay were Weston’s lone competitors. The former scored an 8.2 on the vault and the later had a 7.25.
Hassett had a strong performance on the uneven bars with an 8.5. Such placed her second only to Wilton’s Ashley Bascom. Redcay scored a 6.1.
Both hit the six-point mark on the balance beam. Hassett led with a 6.3 and Redcay scored an even six.
For the floor, Hassett finished with an 8.1 and Redcay scored a 7.05.
Four days later the Trojans visited Darien. Scores decreased slightly overall as the hosts prevailed 126.2-56.5.
Hassett posted her best score of the meet on the vault with an 8.25 as Redcay finished with a 7.25. An 8.0 on the bars tied Hassett for first overall with Darien’s Sam Gunn. Redcay had a 6.4.
The beam was a bit harder. Hassett scored a 6.7 here and Redcay finished with an even four.
For the vault, Hassett hit the eight-point mark for the third time of the meet, scoring an 8.1. Redcay had her best score here with a 7.8.
Weston finishes the regular season this week and takes part in the South-West Conference finals on Feb. 7.
