Marianne Gilbertie, founder of Weston Gardens, dies at 89

Marianne Gilbertie, 89, wife of the late Michael A. Gilbertie, passed away at home on Monday, January 21in the company of her family.

Mrs. Gilbertie was born April 3, 1923, in Vienna, Austria, daughter of the late Berthold and Stella (Gluck) Korting and has been a Westport resident for the past sixty-one years.

Mrs. Gilbertie and her husband Michael are the founders and former co-owners of the Weston Gardens in Weston. She is also a former member of the Westport Woman’s Club, an avid Traveler and a member of the KinderTransport Association. Mrs. Gilbertie’s greatest love was spending as much time as possible with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Roche and her husband Dennis of Fairfield, CT., Debbie Gilbertie-Giannelli and her husband John of Westport, CT., six grandchildren, Samantha, Kristen, Michael, Julia, John and Patrick. Mrs. Gilbertie was also predeceased by one daughter, Susan Gilbertie.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday January 25, 2013 in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
