Police received a call shortly after 5 p.m. that a group was missing. A search crew of Weston Police, Redding Police and Weston volunteer firefighters combed the area and made contact with the group and rescued them around 6:07 p.m.
Weston Police Sergeant Pat Daubert said when the individuals were found they were cold, but no injuries were reported. He said the group got lost due to foggy weather conditions and a quick sunset.
A dense-fog advisory was issued this afternoon by the National Weather Service for southern Connecticut and the surrounding area, including New York City and Long Island. It is in effect from midnight to 10 a.m. Sunday.
Visibility is expected to be “one quarter mile or less at times,” according to the weather service, from “late tonight into Sunday morning.”
