A two-car crash closed Newtown Turnpike in Weston and sent three to the hospital. — Weston police photo

A two-car crash closed a portion of Newtown Turnpike in Weston on Monday, sending three to the hospital.

According to police, at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday police responded to the area of 177 Newtown Turnpike to a reported two-car motor vehicle accident. Three people were transported by Weston EMS to Norwalk Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A determination of fault and cause of the accident is under investigation at this time.

Following the accident, Newtown Turnpike from the Georgetown Road intersection to the Godfrey Road intersection was closed and a detour route was set up. The road was later re-opened Monday night.
