The Weston Board of Selctmen is scheduled to meet tonight, Thursday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room at Weston Town Hall.
The selectmen are expected to discuss the Charter Revision Commission’s proposed changes to the town charter. They have 15 days from last Thursday’s public hearing to either accept the commission’s report or to return it to the comission with comments.
The selectmen do not have a deadline for deciding how and how many questions regarding the charter will appear on the ballot Nov. 6.
At tonight’s meeting, the board is also expected to name members of a Legal Review Committee, charged with reviewing the town’s legal representation.
The board also will likely name some initial members of a new Select Committee for the Oversight of the Lachat Property.
The mission of this committee is to “vet community ideas for the use of the property, ensure that the ideas are consistent with the original deeds and provide recommendations for the use of the property to the Board of Selectmen. At the request of the Board of Selectmen, [the committee] may also provide project oversight and programming initiatives.”
The selectmen are still accepting letters of interest from anyone who would like to serve on the Lachat Committee. Send to P.O. Box 1007, Weston, or email to email@example.com.
The board also will be considering a request from Social Services for funding to purchase grocery store gift cards to enable clients who use the town food pantry to also get fresh vegetables and meat or frozen and refrigerated items.
