Weston Trojan Youth Football and Cheer (WTYF&C), currently in its inaugural year, has registered more than 200 Weston students entering first through eighth grade in the fall for youth football and cheerleading. This number has grown steadily since registration first opened, as local families embrace the opportunity of Weston having its own dedicated youth program for these popular sports.
“I am quite sure that we’ve never had this many Weston youths signed up for football and cheerleading before,” said Weston High Athletic Director Mark Berkowitz. “This is remarkable, and clearly demonstrates the town’s desire to have its own youth program. I have seen firsthand how much our high school sports programs have benefited from the participation and enthusiasm of students and parents at the youth level – and I am truly excited about the outpouring of support for football and cheer.
“The more we can connect our schools and students through programs like WTYF&C, the more opportunities we’ll have to leverage the incredible depth of talent and resources at our schools and in the broader Weston community to do what’s best for every Weston student athlete,” Berkowitz added.
Registration for tackle football and cheer is drawing to a close, as uniform and equipment orders need to be submitted. Anyone interested in playing youth tackle or cheer is encouraged to register before the end of June.
