The Aspetuck Valley Country Club wants to put up seasonal tennis “bubble dome” enclosures like this one, over two tennis courts.

The Aspetuck Valley Country Club on Old Redding Road is looking to put up temporary “bubble domes” over two tennis courts in order to use them in the winter.

To that end, the club is asking the Planning and Zoning Commission to modify its special permit to allow the installation of two airframe tension structures — temporary seasonal enclosures.

P&Z will hear the club’s application at a public hearing on Monday, Dec. 3, at 7:15 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex on School Road.

The proposed bubble domes would be made out of heavy hunter green-colored cloth material that would cover the courts so they could be played on in the winter.

Because the cloth is a dark color, light would not spill out onto the neighboring community, said Carolyn Kepcher, the club’s general manager.

The club is also asking P&Z to allow it to keep an existing section of the club’s southerly driveway — that leads to the club’s maintenance facility — in its current location. The original permit required that the road be moved five feet to the left.
