Theatre Artists Workshop of Norwalk is performing A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room, featuring Weston actors Mark Basile, Barbara Rhoades, and Chilton Ryan.
The Dining Room is a comedy of manners, set in a single dining room where 18 scenes from different households overlap and intertwine. Each story focuses on a different family during different time periods but has in their possession the same dining room furniture set built before the turn of the 1900s.
First produced in New York City in 1981, The Dining Room has become a beloved staple of contemporary American theater. The Theatre Artists Workshop continues its celebrated series of Classic Night Readings by bringing The Dining Room to audiences to Fairfield County.
Co-directed by Katie Sparer and Mark Basile, the performance stars Barbara Rhoades, Jo Anne Parady, Melody James, Richard Leonard, Chilton Ryan, and Ms. Sparer and Mr. Basile. Kim Malara is the stage director.
Performances are at the Theatre Artists Workshop, 5 Gregory Blvd. in Norwalk, Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16, at 8 p.m. There is no charge for admission. Parking is also free.
Reservations are not taken for Classic Nights, so early arrival is recommended to ensure a seat. For more information, visit taworkshop.org.
