Colleen Palmer, superintendent of Weston schools, announced this afternoon that Weston students will return to school on Wednesday, Nov. 7. A previously scheduled early dismissal and parent conferences for that day have been cancelled, so it will be a regular-length school day.
A two-day moratorium on testing has been promised for returning students to give them and teachers a chance to re-orient themselves after being unable to go to school for more than a week due to the storm damage and power outages caused by superstorm Sandy.
Dr. Palmer said the school transportation department is driving all routes today to make sure the necessary 10-foot clearances exist on all roads to accommodate buses. The district will work with town crews to address any problems before Wednesday. If there are streets that need to have busstops temporarily relocated, families affected will be called to discuss alternate transportation plans.
Due to some wires and branches that may still be down, parents are being asked to accompany students to bus stops on Wednesday.
