Weston schools closed today and Tuesday, Nov. 6

Weston Public SchoolsWeston public schools are closed today and tomorrow, and it is unknown at this time if they will re-open on Wednesday. As of Monday morning, 34% of the town was still without power.

According to a post on the district’s website the town’s Emergency Operations Center advised that conditions would not be safe for transporting students to school on Tuesday, Nov. 6.  The district had been considering opening schools on Tuesday due to the cancellation of six consecutive school days.

A special Board of Education Meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday to discuss the school calendar and schools opening was cancelled.

There will be a moratorium on testing of students for the first two school days upon return.

In a spirit of “the show must go on,” the high school drama company’s play, The Crucible is planned to run as scheduled on Nov. 9, Nov. 10 and Nov. 11.
