The Weston Trojans eighth grade youth football team beat a very tough New Canaan team 22-0 to finish the regular season undefeated at 8-0. This was a very physical game against New Canaan, which battled very hard through to the end of the game.

Weston scored on its first possession on a 75-yard touchdown run by Alex Fruhbeis. Jason Lawrence followed with two long touchdown runs to extend the lead to 22-0. George Goetz and Brendan Kirk also ran hard between the tackles.

Once again, the offensive line of Weston played very well, led by the blocking of John Murphy, Nate Jacobson, Peter Jegen, Robbie Waltzman, Michael Otworth, Brandon Postlethwaite, Jackson Quist, and Stephen Tyler. Weston’s quarterbacks Dom DeCaro and Fruhbeis, both had strong games running the offense.

Led by the team captain Zach Spencer, the defense of Peter Achar, Jackson Aguas, Konrad Freitag, Gavin Wrynn, Elijah Hutchinson, Nicholas Lange, Bobby Lummis, Owen McCarthy, Matthew Oakes, and Sal Vento held New Canaan scoreless.

Weston and Darien both finished the season at 8-0 losses and will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. This was Weston’s first season in the Fairfield County Football League.
