Irene Bolella, age 78, died in Weston, Conn. on October 15, 2012, at the home of her daughter Maryanne and son-in-law, William Miller.
Irene was born April 6, 1934 in the Bronx, New York, to Mary and Steve Stevas. In 1983 she moved to New Rochelle, NY, with her daughters, Maryanne and Christine. She moved to Wilton, Conn., in 1987, with her daughter Christine and son-in-law, Kjell Wendell.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bolella and Puff (her little doggy) who she cherished for 18 years. She is survived by her Daughters, Maryanne (William Miller), Christine (Kjell Wendell), Sister, Georgia (Andrew Vlachos), Niece, Dana Vlachos, Godson, Andrew Beam, his younger brother, Ernest Beam, many cousins, extended family and held a special place in her heart for Teddy Preston, Stuart Sorell, Richard Keegan and Elizabeth Kublalsingh.
Irene’s Greek Orthodox faith empowered her to find strength and share her strength with others during the most painful times.
Irene treasured her childhood summers with her parents and sister in Hertford, NC, and Cape May, NJ. and her friend Sophie Rollis. She equally treasured her vacations spent with her daughters, sister and niece at Cape Cod and Cape May, and summertime swims and strolls searching for sea glass and shells at Compo Beach. Her love of nature, gardening and all Gods’ creatures was unparalleled to her love of reading and music. Irene also thoroughly loved sports. She was an avid Yankees fan, attended numerous games and especially shared her love and knowledge of baseball with her niece, Dana.
Relatives and friends are welcome at Bouton Funeral Home at 31 West Church Street, Wilton, CT 06897 on October 17, 2012, between the hours of 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm.
Church Services will be held at 11 a.m. on October 18, 2012, at Zoodohos Peghe Greek Orthodox Church, 3573 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, NY. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Jackson Ave. and Saw Mill River Road, Hastings on Hudson, followed by the Makaria at Niko’s Greek Taverna, 287 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY.
