After making short work of South-West Conference opponents this season the Weston High girls varsity lacrosse team received a bit of a wake up call.
The Trojans lost three of their last four regular-season games. They hope to right themselves before the start of the SWC playoffs starting this week.Hosting New Fairfield last Thursday, the Trojans ran into some stiff defense.
For only the third time this season their attack was held to single digits as they lost 16-6 in their final home game of the regular season.
Only one Weston player netted more than a single goal. The Rebels, on the other hand had several they could turn to as four managed three-goal performances.
Weston High scorers Lindsay Koch and Nicole DeCanio were held to one and two goals respectively. Stephanie Thomson, Catie Ledwick and Frances Holmes all had single tallies apiece. The latter two each had an assist.
Carolyn Figliola made five saves in goal for Weston, which finishes the season at 12-4 overall. Should it defeat Masuk in the semifinals it will play for the championship today (Thursday) at Bunnell at 7 p.m.
