In preparation for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Weston High girls swim and dive team visited Town Center the past two weekends to continue its efforts to spread breast cancer awareness, as well as to raise funds to benefit the Connecticut Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Since 2008, the team has raised more than $26,000 for this cause. The 2012 fundraising campaign will culminate with relay races at Swim for a Cure on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Weston pool from 5 to 7 p.m.

Komen Connecticut is a local, non-profit. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised are invested in local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs across Connecticut. The remaining 25% is invested in breast cancer research to find the causes and cures for the disease.

Tax deductible donations may be made payable to CT Affiliate Susan G. Komen for the Cure and sent to Denise Harvey at 6 Wedges Field, Weston, CT 06883, or online at komenct.org (look for Swim for a Cure on the home page and click on Learn More).
