Girls track: Weston wins seventh straight league crown

The Weston High girls track team came on strong later in the meet to capture its seventh straight title at the South-West Conference finals on Monday with 102.5 points, a half a point ahead of runner-up New Milford.

Weston earned numerous medals, including the gold in the 4×100 meter relay with Amanda Matluck, Ellie Martin, Sydneyb Allon and Whitney Farber finishing first in 50.28 seconds.

Farber was runner-up in the 200 meters in 26.90. She, Allon, Nina Low and Martin also got the silver medal in the 4×400 relay.

Another silver medal came in the triple jump with Sarah Dietzman (above) totaling 33 feet, one half inch. Emily Savage was right behind her for the bronze with 32′ 6″.

The Trojans had five athletes score in the final event, the pole vault, which clinched victory in the meet. Among them were Savage and Jane Wall, tying for second with 10 feet apiece.
