Westonites can learn more about the plans to construct a new 54,000-sqare-foot Family Y at Camp Mahackeno in Westport at the Kiwanis Club of Weston breakfast meeting at Norfield Parish Hall this Saturday, May 19, at 8:30 am. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Rob Reeves, the CEO of the Westport Weston Family Y, will talk about how, after many years of site selection, permitting, and legal challenges, The Y is well on their way to a planned Fall 2012 ground breaking.
The Family Y, founded in 1923 by Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. Bedford, partners with more than two dozen other non-profit organizations to provide services, facilities, and complimentary memberships to augment the work these organizations do.
Mr. Reeves became the CEO of the Family Y in January 2009. He began his career with The Y in 1979 at the Greater Lawrence YMCA in Lawrence, Mass., where he was the youth physical director. His career includes stops at the YMCAs in Marblehead, Mass., Harrisburg, Pa., and Bangor, Maine.
Mr. Reeves graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s egree in physical education from Springfield College. He and his wife Joanne have two adult daughters.
