Legendary singer, guitarist and composer José Feliciano of Weston will perform for your family and friends at your home, if you are the winning bidder at The Alden Sherman Classic, a benefit car show and silent auction set for Sept. 23, 10 to 3, on the grounds of Weston High School.
This once-in-a-lifetime, hour-long concert and many other exciting silent auction items will be up for bid during the car show, with all proceeds benefitting the Weston Senior Activities Center.
Known for such international hits as Light My Fire and Feliz Navidad, Mr. Feliciano is an eight-time Grammy Award winner and longtime Westonite celebrated all over the world for his music.
He will be joined by Bill Rother, another extraordinarily accomplished musician and performer living in Weston. Mr. Rother played guitar in the 1950s with Fred Waring & His Pennsylvanians and has performed on The Ed Sullivan Show and at the White House.
The Alden Sherman Classic will showcase collectible cars, race cars and motorcycles from all over Fairfield County and beyond. The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested tax-deductible donation at the gate that will be used to support the Weston Senior Activities Center.
“As our Senior Center increasingly becomes an important destination for our older neighbors, the need for fund raising has grown,” said Wendy Petty, the center’s director. “We are asking people to give what they can. No donation is too small.”
