The Westport Weston Family Y and Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club are offering a free bike safety workshop for children ages six to 15 on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mahackeno Outdoor Center, 14 Sunny Lane. Children will learn about the rules of the road, how to stay safe while riding and how to keep their bikes safe as well. This one-hour class will benefit young bike riders of all skill levels as well as their parents.

Also at Mahackeno on Sunday, the Northeast Community Cycles group will host a bike donation event. It will gladly accept donations of bikes, bike parts, tools, volunteer hours and money to help refurbish the bikes, which will then be donated to deserving children and adults.
