Sept. 7: Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of Wednesday night’s two-car accident on Georgetown Road. One of the two drivers involved has been identified as Jerome Kilty, 90, of Hillside Road North. The other driver has not been positively identified at this time because he was not carrying identification, according to police. However, the vehicle he was driving is registered to Balvin Petgrave of Bridgeport. Police say they are trying to determine if it was Mr. Petgrave at the wheel.
Weston Police Chief John Troxell said the accident appears to have occurred when Mr. Kilty was driving down Hillside Road North and his car ran into the Petgrave vehicle which was headed north on Georgetown Road. “It appears the Kilty car plowed into the side of the Petgrave car without stopping at the stop sign. We’re still investigating,” he said.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Mr. Kilty lying on the road. Both drivers were treated by Weston EMS on the scene and were transported to Norwalk Hospital, where the chief said they were in serious condition.
The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m., during rush hour, necessitating the closure of Georgetown Road from Old Mill Road to Godfrey Road West for several hours. “It was a very busy time and couldn’t have happened in a busier area,” Chief Troxell said.
