The first annual Weston Volunteer Fire Department Golf Outing will be held on Monday, Oct. 1 (rain date Oct. 15), at Aspetuck Valley Country Club. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.
The $195 per player registration fee includes a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., golf cart, barbecue lunch, cocktails, and dinner following the tournament. Dinner only is $65 per person.
“We’re trying to have an event where the folks of Weston can spend the day with the fire department at a fun event,” said member Eric Carter. “Having a golf tournament will provide a day for us all to get together and have a good time as friends and neighbors, not just firefighters and residents.”
A shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. Play will be in a scramble format. The tournament will feature contests for the longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one as well as door prize and raffles.
Hole sponsorships are also available for $150. Donations will also be accepted to sponsor breakfast, golf carts, cocktail reception, dinner and gift bags.
The Weston Volunteer Fire Department is not a town agency but a private, non-profit membership corporation made up entirely of volunteers. It is comprised of two divisions, fire rescue and emergency medical services. The combined membership is about 120 with many members serving in both divisions.
