All dogs need to be licensed.
All dog owners are required to register their dogs and puppies over six months old. Licenses are valid through June 30 of each year and must be renewed every year. There is a $1 late fee for licenses issued after June 30.
Dog licenses are available at the town clerk’s office, which is open Monday through Friday, 9 to 4:30.
The cost is $8 for neutered or spayed dogs (certificate required), $19 for those not neutered or spayed, and $51 for kennels.
A proof of a recent rabies vaccination certificate is required to register the dog.
The town clerk’s office estimated this week that of the approximately 1,200 dogs in Weston, about 300 are currently unregistered. The fine for having an unregistered dog is $75.
