This week, The Weston Forum launched a new website to better serve the needs of the community. The new site attempts to better engage its readers through a more user-friendly interface and intuitive design structure.
TheWestonForum.com, which first launched in 2005, still has the same kinds of stories that Weston readers have enjoyed since the newspaper was founded in 1970. But with more photographs, easier navigability, and an easy comment format, visitors to the site will have more opportunities to get local news in a timely manner and to weigh in on the issues that matter to them most.
The new design allows readers to easily find the news that’s important to them. Drop-down menus offer multiple categories under News, Sports, Schools & Youth, Happenings, Opinion, and more. See the day’s highlights and the most recent Weston obituaries at the top of the page, and get up-to-date sports coverage and event information.
Pages, which feature continuous “lazy load” scrolling, may be viewed in two different formats: in columns or as a list. Click the horizontal bars or block of squares icons toward the top right corner of the page to pick the look you prefer.
The TheWestonForum.com will also feature more regional and state news that’s important to Westonites but that doesn’t often get run in print.
The site is still a portal to news from around Fairfield County, with easy links to our Arts & Leisure website, which provides regional arts and events coverage, and to our more than 15 other Hersam Acorn local news websites in Fairfield County.
The new site includes a Twitter feed box that shows tweets from The Forum, as well as from around Weston.
And commenting on or sharing stories is easy. Log in to the site, and readers will find comment boxes at the bottom of every story and buttons to like, tweet and otherwise share articles with friends and neighbors.
Tabs at the center of the home page allow readers to see at a glance the latest happenings and events around town, the most popular stories, and recent posts. And, readers can quickly sign up for our email News Alerts.
The Forum has also made submitting information for inclusion in the newspaper and online simpler. Click on Submissions at the top right of the home page, or at the bottom of the News, Sports, Obituaries, and Happenings drop-down menus. You may even place a classified ad and get advertising rates and information under the advertising and Classified sections.
We hope you take a little time to navigate through the new site. Let us know what you think and how The Weston Forum can continue to provide readers the news and information they want and need.
