The U. S. Senate primary results in Weston are in. Weston Republicans went for Christopher Shays over the party-endorsed Linda McMahon, and Democrats chose Chris Murphy over his challenger, Susan Bysiewicz.
Less than one hour after the polls closed in the state, the Associated Press and other media outlets declared Chris Murphy and Linda McMahon primary winners.
In the Weston Republican primary, Mr. Shays garnered 338 votes (56%) and Ms. McMahon received 263 votes (44%). With 601 total votes cast ( including absentee ballots) out of 1,928 registered, Weston Republicans had a 31% voter turnout.
In the Weston Democratic primary, Mr. Murphy received 257 votes (85%) and Ms. Bysiewicz 45 votes (15%). The town’s Democrats had a much lighter turnout than the Republicans, with 14% (302 total votes including absentee ballots) of the 2,136 registered voters casting ballots.
