John Conte, town engineer (center, on hill), checks out the work being done to improve the sightlines at the intersection of School Road (to the right) and Lords Highway (with car).
Shaping the hillside is expected to be completed by Friday, and then the area will be hydroseeded.
First Selectman Gayle Weinstein said the improved intersection is “wonderful,” but she encouraged drivers to slow down on Lords Highway. Drivers on the road, which has a posted 25 m.p.h. speed limit, average 42 m.p.h., she said.
