Louis Brey, the director of human resources for the schools, said the board took its cue from the 1.75% increase awarded to unionized administrators and used that figure as a reference point in calculating the salary increases for non-union personnel.
Phil Schaefer, school board chairman, said he believes the 1.75% raises were proper. “We are keeping things in check the best we can to keep cost increases as low as possible without diminishing the quality of education,” he said.
