U.S. Congressman Jim Himes (D-4th) is making a stop in Weston today, Monday, Aug. 25.
Mr. Himes will meet with Weston First Selectman Gayle Weinstein, a representative from Solarize CT, and some Westonites participating in the Solarize Weston program. Solarize CT is a program offered by CEFIA (Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority), in partnership with SmartPower, that increases residential solar energy through a proven formula. It leverages group discounts through a pre-selected installer to reduce the cost of solar; it relies on the community to provide outreach and education to create awareness and build interest, and it promotes a clear end date that motivates residents to act.
Weston is working with Ross Solar as part of the program. Residents who sign a contract before Oct. 1 are eligible for discounts on solar panel purchase and installation.
After meeting at Weston Town Hall, Mr. Himes and the group will visit a Weston residence to see an existing solar installation.
They will then return to town hall for a brown bag lunch from noon to 1 p.m. The public is invited to the bring-your-own lunch in the Meeting Room at town hall to discuss any issues of interest with Mr. Himes.
Mr. Himes represents the 4th Congressional District, which includes Weston, as well as Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Oxford, Redding, Ridgefield, Shelton, Stamford, Trumbull, Westport, and Wilton.
The stop in Weston is part of his “17 Towns in 17 Days Tour,” which also includes stops this week in Bridgeport, Westport, Norwalk, Stamford, Ridgefield, and Fairfield.
