Fairfield State Rep. Kim Fawcett reports that Metro-North is striving to improve the lines of communication among the railroad, its customers and elected officials, and to act quickly on the feedback. Metro-North has made a concerted effort to improve its website and make it easier for people to comment or complain, Ms. Fawcett said in a recent statement emailed to The Forum. Also, Metro-North has introduced several schedule adjustments to the New Haven Line to improve service in response to customer complaints, her statement continued.
Metro-North and state transportation officials must continue to press for investments to rebuild aging infrastructure and improve safety, said Rep. Kim Fawcett, Democratic candidate for state Senate District 28 seat.
Rep. Fawcett said it was encouraging to see the U.S. Transportation Secretary visit Connecticut to enlist help from state officials to lobby Congress to invest in the U.S. Transportation Department’s Highway Trust Fund.
“Investment in transportation has to be a number one priority for the state going forward. There is no excuse anymore to wait,” Ms. Fawcett said. “We need to develop a long-term investment plan that sets us on the road to fixing and upgrading our infrastructure. It is that simple.”
