Jeanne O’Donnell Maisonpierre died peacefully at her home in Redding in the early morning hours of June 14, 2012. She was born July 20, 1922 to Eileen C. O’Donnell and Dr. William T. O’Donnell and grew up in Belmont, Mass. along with her younger brother, John T. “Jack” O’Donnell, now deceased.
Very much a lifelong student, Jeanne graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in English and a minor in French. Many years later she went on to receive full certification in Russian Translation (with a minor in Czech!) from University College London.
Following college, Jeanne worked in magazine publishing in New York City as an assistant editor. There she met Robert J. “Bob” Maisonpierre and they were married the day after Christmas, 1946.
Together, Jeanne and Bob traveled the world due to Bob’s work in the oil industry raising a family during periods spent living in Vietnam, France, Holland, Germany, England and the U.S. Over the years Jeanne filled several passports with visits to many additional countries, far and wide.
Jeanne was a lifelong skier, loved world travel and the study of foreign cultures and civilizations. She was also a foodie and an inventive cook, an avid reader, a graceful swimmer and an ever-aspiring bridge player.
Jeanne is survived by her five sons, Robert and wife Barbara of Bethel, CT, Eric of Seattle, WA, Peter of Belmont, CA, Michael and wife Eve of Boulder, CO and Timothy of Wilton, CT, and her seven grandchildren: Martin, Jacqueline, Selena, Vanessa, Benjamin, William and Cole.
A memorial service will be held at the Meadow Ridge Auditorium on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 6:30 PM.
