State Rep. John Shaban is hosting a Lyme disease information forum on Thursday, July 26, at the Weston Public Library, at 56 Northfield Road from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The forum will include a panel of experts including Weston Health Coordinator, Monica Wheeler, Dr. Howard Kilpatrick from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Jennifer Reid from the BLAST Program, which was developed to educate the public about Lyme disease.
(The B in BLAST stands for bathing soon after spending time outdoors. L reminds everyone to look their bodies over for ticks daily and remove them properly. A encourages you to become educated about repellants and apply them appropriately. S stands for spraying the yard to reduce tick abundance. T reminds everyone to treat your pets.)
The panel will give a short presentation with facts about Lyme disease and prevention practices and will make themselves available for questions from the public.
The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, call Rep. Shaban’s office at 860-240-8700.
