It is my privilege to welcome and thank you all for coming to celebrate this great milestone. 13 years ago, we began our journey on becoming educated men and women. At 5 years old, we had clear and young minds; ready to take in everything we could along our educational journeys. We now stand up in here, heads full of life lessons.
I find it important that before we go on and honor the graduating class, we graciously thank those who have helped us become who we are now. We did not make this journey to this great day alone. Today is not only a commemoration of us graduates but a tribute to those who got us here. To those who waited with us at the bus stops, showed us how to read and write, taught us to express ourselves, and waited after school as long as it took to help us until we really understood.
Thank you parents for being so caring and so patient with us. For never giving up and always offering us the support we needed. High school can be a very stressful and busy time period for us students, and I am certain that we would not find ourselves up here in these caps and gowns if it were for you.
And teachers… You have all taught us so well. From learning the basics of trigonometry, the corruption of the American dream in “The Great Gatsby”; to helping us prioritize our lives and search for what makes us happy. This group of teachers are incredible individuals and role models, they are people we will stay connected with for the rest of our lives. I am not sure if most of you know this, but Weston High School was ranked as the 3rd best high school in CT and also ranked in the top 2% of this nations public high schools. These great accomplishments would not be possible had we not been graced with the incredible educators that Weston has to offer. Thank you.
As we now carry on into the ceremony, parents, teachers, family and friends, please enjoy this moment, as you too have earned it. Let us now commence this graduation and celebrate the accomplishments of the exuberant class of 2013. Thank you.
