Weston 4th of July fun includes fireworks

fireworksWFireworks and festivities return to Weston on Thursday, July 4, as part of the town’s traditional Independence Day celebration.

Events, sponsored by the town Parks and Recreation Department, include:

  • Mini Triathlon for kids and adult beginners starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 11. To register and for more information, visit trifitness.net.
  • Swimming at Bisceglie Park for residents and guests will be offered from 11:30 to 6.
  • Gates open on School Road at 4:30 for a $5 admission fee. There is no charge for children under four years of age.
  • A barbeque will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with food and drink available for purchase.
  • At 6:15, the Westport Community Band will perform along with the Magic Genie.
  • At 7:30, the Straight Note Chasers perform and will return at 10, after the fireworks display.
  • The day of festivities will culminate with a fireworks display at 9:20.

The rain date for food and fireworks only will be Friday, July 5.
