After six years in Weston, Michael Bernardi, middle school assistant principal, is moving on.
A statement issued by Lewis Brey, human resources director for the Weston school district, said Mr. Bernardi has a pending appointment to become the principal of Rochambeau Middle School in the Region 15 school district, which covers Middlebury and Southbury. His anticipated transition date is July 1.
Mr. Bernardi has served as Weston Middle School’s assistant principal since 2007. He came to Weston from the Ridgefield school district, where he was a social studies department leader at East Ridge Middle School.
Weston Superintendent Colleen Palmer called Mr. Bernardi an “excellent educator” and said she was saddened to see him go. “Michael has been an integral part of the strong, effective leadership of Weston Middle School over these past six years. We have benefited from his expertise and talents, and wish him every success as he moves on to the role of principal.”
With Mr. Bernardi’s anticipated departure this summer, the district will immediately launch a search for a new assistant principal, according to the district’s statement. It is expected that a new assistant principal would be hired by July.
