Emmanuel Episcopal Church recently opened the doors of its new parish hall for a preview tour.
Rector Rob Ross guided parishioners through the building, which is slated to open in July. In addition to using the space for parish activities and events, Emmanuel plans to make the facility available for town meetings, nonprofit group meetings, wedding receptions, and other large-occupancy uses.
Highlights of the parish hall include a 35- by 70-foot room that will be able to accommodate 287 people. A full legal and permitted commercial kitchen is also being competed, which will be available to caterers for both on-site and off-site use.
The building will be equipped with a generator, providing shelter and a working kitchen to area residents in the event of power outages.
“We are very excited about the completion of this parish hall, which we hope will be a beacon for community activities,” said Philip Matthews, vestry member.
