Celebrate spring with free hikes at Aspetuck Land Trust

weston-hike-trail-woodsAspetuck Land Trust invites the public to celebrate spring and National Trails Day (June 1) by joining land trust volunteers on some free hikes.

Saturday, May 18: Fly-fishing at Warner Anglers Preserve in Easton, 9-10:30 a.m.

Saturday, May 25: Birds – Migrants and Residents at Trout Brook Valley in Easton, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Saturday, June 1: National Trails Day Hike at Trout Brook Valley in Weston, 8:30 to noon.

Thursday, June 13: Summer Birding Walk at Newman-Poses Preserve in Westport, 5:30-7 p.m.

These educational hikes are open to everyone but have limited space, so sign up as soon as possible. To reserve a spot, email David at dbrant@aspetucklandtrust.org.

The National Trails Day Hike is a challenging one for experienced hikers with Lisa Brodlie, ALT board member, and Princie Falkenhagen, ALT president, as guides.

Join them on an exploration through the heart of Trout Brook Valley near some of the many vernal pools. Flora will be highlighted along with historical information.

Registration for this hike, at ctwoodlands.org, is required, as is an RSVP directly to Lisa at lbrodlie@aol.com.
