On Monday, April 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Youth Services presents a free program, “Liquor Laws: What Parents Should Know About Parties, Possession, and Penalties.”
Talking about alcohol and drug use and abuse requires knowledge of limits, laws and liability. Come listen to a lawyer and learn the facts about underage drinking, social hosting and drug possession.
The guest speaker is Frederic S. Ury, a prominent trial lawyer who has been in practice for more than 34 years. He is a past president of the Connecticut Bar Association and the National Conference of Bar Presidents, and frequently lectures on such diverse topics as civil procedure and ethics.
All of the interactive sessions in the Tackling the Tough Stuff series are co-led by guest speakers to highlight social, psychological, educational, and legal information and issues for children of all ages.
The aim is to help parents gain awareness regarding how their own beliefs and behaviors influence children; knowledge about developmental theories, current research, and educational and legal mandates; as well as practical and effective strategies to enhance parent-child communication and relationships.
